Likes - Lots of trading tools, research, and education material for new and intermediate traders

Dislikes - Higher trade costs than most other brokers that target more experienced traders

Bottom Line - FOREX.com is one of the largest retail forex brokers in the world and they offer a full range of trading tools, platforms, education and analysis. They will not be the cheapest broker, but they aren't a bad place to start if you've never traded forex.

FOREX.com's parent company GAIN Capital Holdings (NYSE: GCAP) is a global provider of online trading services. GAIN Capital proivdes services, including institutional forex trading, to more than 140 countries worldwide. GAIN launched FOREX.com in 2004 which focuses on retail traders with smaller trading accounts. They offer their clients a variety of platforms including the widely popular Metatrader 4. They also offer mobile and web trading platforms for when you're not at your home office. FOREX.com provides news, research, and quality educational videos for traders of every experience level.

Commission Notes

FOREX.com does not charge commission for forex trades, instead they are compensated through the difference (i.e. spread) between the Bid and Ask prices of whatever currency pair is being traded.

Spread - Forex.com inserts between 1-2 pips of spread on major pairs. They publish a rates table detailing the typical spread values for all the currency pairs they offer. On certain major pairs FOREX.com is among the highest

Premier Accounts - FOREX.com does not appear to offer any higher level account for retail traders, however Gain Capital does offer institutional trade clearing and API services for highly advanced traders, money managers, or other brokers.

Micro Account Trading - FOREX.com does not offer micro lot trading. Their minimum contract size is 1 mini lot or 10k currency units.
