Thinkorswim is now a part of the TD Ameritrade (AMTD) family, but Thinkorswim started small. It’s always nice to see where things got their start, and Thinkorswim has definitely turned into a major way many investors access important tools to research all sorts of asset options.

The Tastytrade financial network is also part of the TD Ameritrade family, and this week Tastytrade announced the release of its latest documentary, which is on the creation of Thinkorswim.

Tom Sosnoff and Scott Sheridan were the co-founders of Thinkorswim. Thinkorswim was created in 1999. The platform grew in popularity, especially among options traders and eventually TD Ameritrade bought Thinkorswim for about $606 million in cash and stock in 2009.

Millions of traders have used Thinkorswim’s platform, and it’s rare to get such an in-depth look at how a major financial company was created. At StockBrokers.com, we are all about encouraging the individual investor to become more knowledgeable.

This Tastytrade documentary is well worth the 30 minutes, and there’s a good chance you’ll learn something new by watching it. You can check out the video below:
