TD Ameritrade (AMTD) is inviting college students with an appetite for investing to put their best ideas in action with the thinkorswim Challenge, a new virtual trading competition designed to help teach the next generation of investors about engaging with the market. Registration for the challenge began on September 17, and the competition will begin on October 13. Students at colleges and universities nationwide can register to be a part of this competition which is being offered through TD Ameritrade U, an educational platform for professors and college-run organizations that provides free access to virtual trading through paperMoney on thinkorwswim.

Prizes will be awarded to students and their schools based on the performance of their virtual trading performance in the thinkorswim Challenge. The contest period will be four weeks long. The last day to register for the competition is October 6. Participation is limited to the first 2,000 teams to complete registration. Teams should include three to five people. Each team’s account will begin with $500,000 in virtual dollars. TD Ameritrade has created a page at thinkorswimchallenge, which is where users should go to sign up as well as read all the rules of the competition.
