Robinhood Quietly Expands Commission-Free OTC Trading to Over 800 Stocks

Robinhood has quietly expanded commission-free trading of over-the-counter (OTC) securities to more than 800 tradeable symbols, StockBrokers.com has discovered during regular testing.

The rollout appears inside the Robinhood mobile app, under a new collection titled “New OTC securities.” The in-app message says Robinhood has, “just added OTC symbols that you can trade commission free,” while noting that other fees may apply.

Tapping into the card opens a dedicated list titled “New OTC securities,” which Robinhood describes as “Recently listed over the counter (OTC) securities trading on Robinhood.” The list contains 836 items, including international companies, ADRs, and OTC securities such as Nestlé S.A. (NSRGY), SoftBank Group Corp. (SFTBY), BYD Company Limited (BYDDY), and hundreds more.

Robinhood has not yet issued a public announcement about the OTC expansion, making this a behind-the-scenes product rollout spotted first by StockBrokers.com.

“This is a meaningful expansion of Robinhood’s tradable universe, especially for investors who want access to international names and OTC-listed securities without paying a commission,” said Blain Reinkensmeyer, co-founder of StockBrokers.com. “It is also another example of Robinhood continuing to broaden its platform beyond its original core of U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs.”

OTC stocks can carry additional risks compared with exchange-listed securities, including lower liquidity, wider bid-ask spreads, less analyst coverage, and more limited disclosure. Investors should understand those risks before trading.

Robinhood’s in-app disclosure also notes that while trades may be commission-free, other fees may apply.
